Dev was born as Deepak Adhikari on Saturday, 25 December 1982 (age 41 years; as of 2023) in Mahisha, a small village near Keshpur, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, India. His zodiac sign is Capricorn.

He spent some of his childhood at Chandrakona, Paschim Medinipur district, West Bengal. After that, he with his family shifted to Mumbai. He completed his schooling at Purushottam High School, Bandra, Mumbai. He completed a Computer Engineering diploma course from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune, India. He used to work with his father in his catering business. According to sources, Dev served food on Hindi film sets before becoming an actor.

Dev dated Subhashree Ganguly. She is an Indian actress who primarily works in the Bengali film industry. According to sources, Dev started dating Shubhashree Ganguly during the filming of Challenge (2009) and they parted ways after a few years.

Thereafter, Dev started dating Rukmini Maitra.

Dev said in an interview that he isn’t superstitious in any way but believes in some supernatural power. He said in an interview that,

I also strongly believe in karma — if you do good to people, the positive karma will come back to you. I also celebrate all festivals, be it Durga Puja, Eid or Christmas, with fervour. Film

Dev worked as an observer on the film sets of the Hindi film Tarzan: The Wonder Car (2004). He made his debut in the Bengali film industry as an actor with the film Agnishapath (2006). He played the character of “Jeet” in the film.

Some of his other notable films are Challenge (2009), Le Chakka (2010), Paglu (2011), Challenge 2 (2012), Khoka 420 (2013), Rangbaaz (2013), Chander Pahar (2013), and Pradhan (2023).

Apart from this, he is also associated with various brands such as Vivel-ITC Limited, Royal Stag, Shricon TMT Bars, and Bakefresh Biscuits.

Dev appeared in the TV serial Sobinoy Nibedon (2011) on Sananda TV as a guest performer.

Politics

Dev joined the All India Trinamool Congress party in 2014. The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, selected him to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 from the Ghatal constituency. He won the elections. After serving a tenure of 5 years he was re-elected in 2019 as the MP of Ghatal constituency.

Producer

Dev and his father Gurupada Adhikari own a production company known as Dev Entertainment Ventures Private Limited. The company was established in 2015, and Dev is its director. He has produced several films such as Cockpit (2017) Hoichoi Unlimited (2018), Password (2019), Tonic (2021), Kishmish (2022), and Pradhan (2023).

Controversy

Dev Accused of Unethical Comments

Dev faced controversy when he was asked in an interview before the Lok Sabha Elections 2014 if he was enjoying being in the spotlight to which he replied that it was like getting sexually assaulted to which there was no other alternative.
